Head to Mitrovica for a little walk in the most divided city of the Balkans! Since 1999, the Ibar River has served as the border between the small North Mitrovica, mainly Serbian, and the large South Mitrovica, mainly populated by Albanians. Much to his happiness and misfortune, Mitrovica is located right next to the largest lignite deposit in the Balkans, the TrepĨa mines.
You will set off towards Mitrovica, passing Lake Gazivode which stretches 24 km in length between Kosovo and Serbia. Located at an altitude of 690 m, at the foot of the Mokra Gora massif, it offers magnificent landscapes and natural corners that are all the more preserved as human settlements are very rare here.
